The artist-in-residence program aims to prompt critical debate on issues such as the current narratives of the nation and state, and the exploitation and destruction of natural resources from a historical perspective through studying the society, culture, ethnicity, and history of the Changbai Mountains and the surrounding northeast region. The artist-in-residence program attempts to integrate DRC No.12’ s foci on social critique and global geopolitical dynamics, and the cultural, historical, and artistic fieldwork of the Changbai Mountains region, producing exhibitions, discussions, publications, and other forms of knowledge from a contemporary art perspective.
There are two resident artists or researchers in each period, in principle, one Chinese and one foreign. Artists or researchers will work together through discussion and research.
The support provided by the project is as follows: a round-trip domestic air or high-speed train ticket for resident artists, single-room accommodation and shared work space for each person, and a subsidy of RMB 150 per person per day during the residency period. For international artists, DRC No.12 will help apply for sponsorship to fund international round-trip air tickets from relevant organizations.

外交公寓12号艺术家驻留项目关注通过对长白山及其辐射地区的社会、文化、民族、历史的研究，并通过这些研究激发对现有国家、民族叙事以及地区资源利用方面的思考和讨论，结合外交公寓12号展览项目中地缘政治、国际关系等线索与长白山驻留地具体语境，产出当代艺术视角的展览、论谈、出版等知识内容。
每期驻留艺术家或研究者二名，原则上中外各一名，艺术家或研究者将通过共同讨论和研究的方式展开工作。2024年度驻留艺术家及研究者为定向邀请。2025年度该项目将进行公开征集。
该项目提供支持为：提供驻留艺术家国内机票或高铁一次往返，每人单间住宿及共用工作空间，驻留期间每人每天150元人民币补助。艺术家国际往返机票一次由外交公寓12号代为向相关机构申请赞助。
